This last year, Andrew Teel, a student now going into grade 10 at iHub, raised over $49,000 for Covenant House Vancouver, a sum which was then tripled by private sponsors. Now he has a chance to win another $25,000 for the charity helping at risk youth in Vancouver! From Andrew himself:
Hi everyone! We have a chance to be part of something really amazing!
I was a five year old foster kid in kindergarten when I asked a woman at my school for a hug. That day changed my life forever and by the time I was starting grade one, I was her son. I know what it feels like to be completely alone and not to have family to support you, so when I was in grade seven, I started collecting money and supplies for those who were homeless and at risk. Last Christmas, I created Twoonies for Teens with a goal of collecting $100, and I ended up with a personal total of over $49,000 for Covenant House, much of which was matched by corporate sponsors to make an even bigger impact.
The Vancouver Whitecaps FC are also big supporters of vulnerable youth and I have teamed up with them to do car washes and the #BuckUp for Mental Health campaign that raised over $84,000. It has been fantastic to be part of something so important. Now the Vancouver Whitecaps FC have nominated me and my mom Sandy to represent them in Chicago at the MLS All Star Game on August 2nd with the chance of winning $25,000 for Covenant House!

21 other teams from all across North America will be sending representatives to the Chicago All Star Game as well, and online votes for which team will win the $25,000 will be tallied before half time. All the teams and their charities represented will be awarded $1000 with one winner collecting the big prize. We are really hoping it can be us that brings home the $25,000!
I am so passionate about supporting the youth still out there and giving them a day that will change their lives too.
The only way to win is to get the most online votes. You can vote once a day on each of your devices and the more people you share the link with the better chance we have of winning. I hope you will join us!
